15. Walser meeting in the rarest village of Tyrol, in Galtür
The Walser meeting in Galtür from 8 to 12 September turned out a great fair. Some Walser formed groups and reached the 1600m high lying valley with bikes or on foot. On Friday 10 September, a get-together evening the band “Kanapee” from Großwalsertal played. On Saturday, the village was full of colourful costumes. The marquee was filled with 2200 Walser out of them only 780 locals. The following day church service had to be held in the marquee as it started raining. The Walser male choir framed this service. Butt he rain did not prevent a short pageant. The meeting “tradition and modern times” which was very well organised was terminated by a jointly lunch. Those that had come from far away started their journey back home.
Committee of organisation: member of the Landtag Mayor Anton Mattle, vice mayor Hermann Huber, district council member Franz Türtscher, tourisim director Gerhard Walter and council cashier Helmut Pöll.
Marquee:
2250 m², 256 tables, 2048 seats, 1750 menus and 2200 meals were served, 2000 Apfelstrudel from Trofana Rojal, a truck brought dishes for 4000 people from Munich
Personnel:
35 chefs of the Paznauer Kochgilde headed by Hermann Huber. 80 waiters from the tourism school Absam, tourism college Innsbruck and many locals headed by Peter Walter.
